CORE CURRICULUM
LEVEL 1 - 3
COLD TOFU's TRAINING CENTER offers Level 1 - 3 improv workshops annually where students learn improv techniques to improve performance and various skills such as listening, spontaneity, public speaking and team building. Workshops are Tuesday nights in Little Tokyo from 7-10pm and is offered to actors and non-actors over the age of 18. Graduates of the Training Center are eligible to join the COLD TOFU ENSEMBLE. Due to COVID-19, some classes may be held online with adjustments made to the curriculum and tuition to accommodate this transition. Please review Registration for current class information.
Level 1 - CORE CURRICULUM
This beginning class is geared towards learning basic improv techniques for those with little or no improv experience. A showcase is presented at the end of the eight-week course. Level 1 is offered in the Winter/Spring.
$375 for 8 weeks plus showcase (required reading TRUTH IN COMEDY)
Recommended preparation: Fundamentals in Acting
Level 2 - CORE CURRICULUM
Level 2 continues towards providing a solid foundation in improv, expanding on Scenework and Character. A showcase is presented at the end of the eight-week course. Registration for Level 2 is offered in the Spring/Summer.
$375 for 8 weeks plus showcase
Prerequisite: Cold Tofu’s Level 1 Improv Workshop (or 50 hours of improv training/performance and interview)
Level 3 - CORE CURRICULUM
Level 3 builds on advanced improv techniques with a focus on the exploration of Narrative, Styles and Genres. A showcase is presented on stage at the end of the eight-week course. Level 3 is offered in the Fall.
$375 for 8 weeks plus showcase
PREREQUISITE: Cold Tofu’s Level 2 Improv Workshop (or 100 hours of improv training/performance and interview)

PAYMENT, CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
Full tuition is due before the first day of workshop. If you must cancel your registration before the first day of class, a full refund will be issued. If you cancel enrollment before the second day of class, 50% of your tuition will be refunded. There are no refunds after the second class. If you are unable to complete the course for any reason, you may retake the workshop at a 50% discount at a future time.
ATTENDANCE AND LATE POLICY
Our curriculum is constructed to build upon techniques and lessons learned in preceding classes to enhance cumulative learning. Attendance is therefore mandatory for all classes, with reasonable exception. Three absences may affect your eligibility to advance to the next level. Any more than three absences, and you will not be eligible to advance to the next level. Three tardies will count towards an absence. If you are tardy for more than half an hour, it will automatically be counted as an absence.
